HHHART Annual Meeting

Our Annual Meeting - May 9th 2012

Joan Petroske, our president, welcomed everyone to an informative meeting.  Richard Haase, the current TA president updated us on the issues facing active teachers. Richard was knowledgable and entertaining.  Keith Bantz was there to greet Richard, a past student of his from Candlewood. Dick Lee spoke about our insurances, the health care advocacy, and medicare.  Mel Stern, our political action representative,   noted how important it is for us to vote on the 15th, the people in our government who can effect legislature in our favor, and VOTE/Cope.

The hospitality committee dazzled us with the "brunch" spread and the raffles. Annette Maltin took home the perennial pot and the manicure/pedicure gift.  Rick Volpe was the lucky winner of the ticket to the summer theatre.  Rowena Book has an invitation to our fall luncheon and Gerry Byrne took home the hanging planter.  Congratulations to all our winners.

CORTLI Luncheon

On October 18th local chapters attended a luncheon hosted by The Coalition of Retired Teachers of Long Island. It proved to be an informative day.  Congressman Tim Bishop was the featured speaker and Carolyn McCarthy was able to update us on her position on the Education Committee.  You can view the photos in the Photo Gallery link at the top of this page or by clicking here.

An Afternoon at the Theatre

Seventeen people handed in their HHHART ticket on Sunday, August 5, 2012 at  the John Engeman Theatre in Northport to see I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change.  This musical comedy about love in the suburbs kept the audience chuckling. The actors were truly talented.  A good show all around!  Visit the Photo Gallery
